Another week, another Korean drama obsession. The latest series I watched was Vincenzo, and I completely understand why people have been recommending it for years. It just so happens that it was the same character that was in Arthdal chronicles that played Vincenzo. I watched it in what felt like no time because every episode kept giving me a reason to watch just one more and then another and another. Going into it, I thought I was getting a serious mafia drama, at least that was what i saw about it on twitter but then it was the perfect mix of action and courtroom battles, revenge, and some genuinely emotional moments.

The story goes thus, Vincenzo Cassano, a Korean who was adopted by an Italian family and was raised by the Mafia. After his adoptive father dies, things become dangerous within the organisation, forcing him to return to South Korea. His original plan is simple and that is to recover a hidden fortune buried beneath an old building and quietly leave the country.

Of course, nothing ever goes according to plan, if it did the show will not be interesting. The crux is that the corporate building is occupied owned by the group is occupied by quirky tenants who quickly become some of the funniest and most lovable characters in the entire series. On top of that, a ruthless corporation called Babel Group is determined to seize the property through corruption, intimidation, and every dirty trick imaginable. Before long, Vincenzo finds himself teaming up with lawyer Hong Cha-young to fight back against one of the most powerful companies in the country.

One thing I absolutely loved is how unpredictable the series is. Just when you think you've figured out where the story is going, it throws another twist your way or a curveball Some episodes had me laughing so hard because of the ridiculous situations the characters found themselves in, while others had me completely shocked by how dark things suddenly became, also let's talk about Song Joong-ki. He absolutely owns this role again Vincenzo is calm and intelligent, and somehow still incredibly funny without even trying. The confidence, the suits, the Italian phrases, it all makes for one of the coolest protagonists I've seen in a K-drama.

Then there's the villain, i mean every great revenge story needs someone you genuinely love to hate, am i right? and Vincenzo absolutely delivers, also another thing that impressed me was how the drama constantly blurs the line between good and evil. Vincenzo isn't your typical hero. Some might even call him an Anti - hero, cos he's a mafia consigliere who solves problems in ways that most people wouldn't even consider. The show asks whether fighting monsters sometimes requires becoming one yourself. Its one of those series i found myself fast forwarding because i couldnt be patient enough to patiently wait till the end of the series. By the time I finished the final episode, it was all worth it.

This one easily earns a 9.5/10 from me. I can't believe I waited this long to watch it, but I'm so glad I finally did.
