Saludos amigas, amigos de Hive, tambien de esta comunidad, donde compartimos lo que sabemos, aprendemos de los que saben tambien. Saben que debemos aprovechar esos conocimientos que tenemos, mas si tambien tenemos las herramientas para ello.

Tengo una maquina de coser que no es mia, es de mi hermano que emigro hace años, pero fue el año pasado que me traje la maquina, que estaba no dañada pero si le hacia falta como mantenimiento y ponerla a funcionar. Para eso gracias a Dios hay un señor en la comunidad que las repara, le llame, vino, la reviso, la puso operativa de nueva, asi que a darle uso, porque las cosas cuando no se usan tambien se pueden dañar.

No es que voy a realizar costuras, pero si puedo hacer arreglos propios, para mis hijos y mas que una u otra cosa para emprender.

Empezare con arreglar un pantalon, que es demasiado ancho en la parte de la bota asi le dicen y muy largo que lo piso.

Primer Paso:

Me puse el pantalon, mi hija me tomo las fotos para que vean lo que les decia sobre lo ancho y largo del mismo, para luego al final hacer las comparaciones: antes y despues.

Le dije a mi hija que colocara unos alfileres como guia que le dije donde para desde ahi hacer los arreglos.

Segundo Paso:

Me quite el pantalon, fui a la mesa, busque otro para usarlo como guia ya que el otro si me queda bien de ancho abajo y de largo.

Coloque el que voy arreglar debajo y el otro arriba, ahi hice las comparaciones.

Tercer Paso:

Corte el ruedo primero, hice las costuras como desde las rodillas hasta abajo por el lado hacia adentro en las piernas.

Cuarto Paso:

Tome las medidas desde donde voy a hacer los arreglos, primero use alfileres, quite el pantalon, luego hice unas puntadas o basteado con hilos de otro color para luego quitarlos.

Quinto Paso:

Me lo probe de nuevo asi antes de coserlo a la maquina, me quedo bien, ahora si a coserlo.

Sexto Paso:

Probarmelo de nuevo ya listo, me gusto el cambio y el arreglo, no hay nada mejor que sentirse a gusto y comodo con la ropa que se usamos.

Ya mas adelante poco a poco ire haciendo otros arreglos como las cortinas de los cuartos, que por emergencia las coloque asi sin coserlas, pero ahora si lo hare.

Como muchas cosas que de seguro encontrare, pero tambien para hacer otras cosas, que de seguro les traere aquí.

I have a sewing machine that isn’t mine; it belongs to my brother, who emigrated years ago. But it was last year that I brought the machine home. It wasn’t broken, but it did need some maintenance and to be made operational. Thankfully, there’s a man in the community who repairs them. I called him, he came over, checked it out, and got it working again, so now it’s time to put it to use—because things can break down when they’re not used.

It’s not that I’m going to be doing any sewing, but I can make my own alterations—for my kids and, more than anything else, to get started.

I’ll start by altering a pair of pants that are too wide at the ankle—that’s what they call it—and so long that they drag on the ground.

Step One:

I put on the pants, and my daughter took some photos so you can see what I was talking about regarding their width and length, so we can compare them later: before and after.

I told my daughter to place some pins as a guide where I indicated, so we could make the alterations from there.

Step Two:

I took off my pants, went to the table, and looked for another pair to use as a guide, since the other pair fits me well in width at the bottom and in length.

I placed the pair I’m going to alter underneath and the other pair on top, and that’s where I made the comparisons.

Step 3:

I cut the hem first, sewing from the knees down the inside of the legs.

Step Four:

Take measurements from where I’m going to make the alterations. First, use pins; remove the pants; then, I made a few stitches or basted with thread of a different color, which I later removed.

Step Five:

I tried it on again like this before sewing it on the machine; it fits well, so now it’s time to sew it.

Step Six:

I tried it on again once it was ready. I liked the change and the alterations—there’s nothing better than feeling comfortable and at ease in the clothes we wear.

Later on, I’ll gradually make other adjustments, like the curtains in the rooms, which I put up like this without sewing them as a temporary fix, but now I’ll do it properly.

Like many things I’m sure I’ll find, but also to do other things, which I’ll definitely share here.
