Bloom A Crochet petal granny square With me🌹
Hello creative minds
@needleworkmonday.
Wishing everyone a blessed week.
Today I will be sharing the process on how I achieved this beautiful petal granny square.
It has a soft texture and during the process i was imagining projects i can achieve with this beautiful pattern.
PATTERN DISCOVERY.
As a brand owner or someone who has passion for crafts. you know that moment when you don't have any project, no orders, and nothing to work on for days.
Yeah! I was in that moment and trust me it wasn't easy. I felt like crocheting something.
A few days without my hook and yarns suddenly felt like years.
So I decided to explore a new pattern and I came across this beautiful crochet granny square during my research.
There are lots of crochet granny squares but I will be sharing the procedure for this one.
MATERIALS USED:
❤️ Yarn
❤️ 3.0mm hook
❤️ A pair of scissors
❤️ And Darning needle
NOTE: You will come across some crochet terms in this tutorial which are: Chains, single crochet, double crochet, and slip stitch.
PROCEDURE:
STEP 1: I made a slip knot and I chain 5.
STEP 2: Into the first chain, I did a slip stitch.
STEP 3: I chain 3,which stands as my first double crochet. into the circle i place 2 double crochet.
STEP 4: I chain 2 and place 3 double crochet into the circle
STEP 5: I chain 2 again and place 3 double crochet into the circle. I repeat ch2, 3DC twice until I have 4 3 double crochet clusters in the circle.
STEP 6: I slip stitch in the 3rd chain of the first chain 3. Then I chain 1 and cut off my yarn.
Now we have a square shape.
STEP 7: I secure my next yarn in between one of the 3 double crochet Then I chain up 3. In the next space between the next double crochet I place a single crochet.
STEP 8: I chain up 3 and I skipped the chain 2 space. In between the next double crochet, I place a single crochet. I chain up 3 again and I place a single crochet in between the next double crochet.
STEP 9: I repeat the same process across the row. (Chain 3, 1 single crochet, chain 3 and 1 single crochet.)
STEP 10: To end the row, I chain 3 and I slip stitch into the first stitch in the previous row. Then I chain 1 and cut off my yarn.
STEP 11: I attached my next colour which is white. I attached it into the corners of the square.
STEP 12: I chain 3 which stands as my first double crochet and I place 2 more double crochet.
STEP 13: I chain 2 and in the same corner I place 3 double crochet.
STEP 14: I chain 2 and I place 3 double crochet in the next corner of the square. I chain 2 and place 3 double crochet in the same space.
I repeat this process in all 4 corners. Then I slip stitch in the 3rd chain of the chain 3. I chain 1 and cut my yarn.
STEP 15: I repeat the same process from step 7- 9. ( Chain 3, 1 single chair, chain 3 and 1 single crochet).
STEP 16: To end the row I slip stitch into the first chain in the previous row. I chain 1 and cut off my yarn.
STEP 17: Also a repetition of row 11.
I chain 3 and inside the same space I place 2 double crochet. I chain 2 and place 3 double crochet in the same space.
STEP 18: I chain 2 and in the next chain 3 space I placed 3 double crochet. ( because of the increase in rows we now have 1 chain 3 space before the next corner of the square).
STEP 19: I crochet 3 double crochet, chain 2 and another 3 double crochet in the corner.
And I repeat the same process until the end of the row. Then I slip stitch in the 3rd chain of the first chain 3. I chain 1 and cut off my yarn.
This is the entire pattern. Repeat the same process until you get your desire increase.
I really love working with this pattern. It's so easy and beginner friendly.
Hold up! We are not done. What's a crochet piece or pattern without beautiful edges? And to achieve that I will show you how I added a double crochet for a perfect edge.
STEP 20: After I made a slip stitch to end my last row, I didn't cut off my yarn.
I slip stitch into the next 2 stitches, and in the chain two space, I chain 3, which stands as a double crochet. Then I chain 2 and place another 2 double crochet.
STEP 21: In each of the next 3 stitches I place 1 double crochet. And in the chain 2 space I placed 2 double crochet.
STEP 22: I repeat 1 double crochet in the double crochet stitches, 2 double crochet in the chain 2 space and 2 double crochet, chain 2 and 2 double crochet in the corner space of the square.
I repeat this process across the row then I slip stitch into the 3rd chain in the first chain 3. I chain 1 and cut off my yarn.
And tadaa here is the result.
I'm not really a fan of lemon green but this is beautiful. This particular yarn is one of my scrap yarns and I haven't used it for 8 months now.
And since this isn't a big project I decided to make use of it for this pattern but it's not looking bad either, I just don't like flashy things.
And so I did another swatch using another colour and I love how cool it looks.
Yeah! This is what I'm talking about. I love cool colours.
