Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!

In this series, I will review one unit at a time, picking them randomly.

So let me spin the wheel again and see what I get:

Imperial Agents, Culexus Assassin

Another Imperial Agent. This time - the Culexus Assassin!

I do not own the model above but I do have a much older version of this Assassin in my collection... and it IS painted up... mine is the "old man touchy" version where he points... its hilarious... I will to a photoshoot and show you what I mean!

In a word, the Culexus Assassin is an Assassin that specializes in killing Psykers!

He costs 85pts to field and the web store has him listed for $40 - ouch!

Let's check his stats!

Save 6+/4++(armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 4
Ld 6+

Weapons

Ranged:

Its on his head...

Animus speculum
24" Range, 3 Shots, Hitting on 2+. S5, AP-2 and D3 Damage.
Assault, Precision, Anti-psyker 2+, Psychic Assassin

So he can Advance and Shoot, and hit a Character in a unit bypassing the bodyguard, if its a Psyker, he wounds it on a 2+ and if he shoots at any Psyker, the shots go up to 6 shots!

Melee:

Life-draining touch
4 Attacks, Hitting on 2+, S4, AP-2 and 2 Damage each.
Precision, Anti-psyker 2+, Devastating Wounds

Again, can't hide a Character from him, he Critically Wounds a Psyker on a 2+ meaning Devastating Wound procs and it cuts right through!

Abilities

Deep Strike, Stealth, Lone Operative.

Abomination

This model has a 2+ Feel no Pain against Psychic Attacks. So as much as he damages Psykers... they can't really hurt HIM with those attacks...

Soulless Horror

Enemies within 6" are at -1 Leadership. Psykers are at -2 Leadership. Once per game he can force EACH unit within this range to take a Battleshock test!

Thoughts

The Culexus really puts the scare into Psykers of course. I do not see people paying him in competitive lists because there is no guarantee that people will play a psyker. However, I do not think he is useless if there are not.

I suppose if your local meta has a lot of top players using Psychic to get wins then he would be the one to pick!

That is 3 Imperial Agents Datasheets reviewed putting them on 17.6% Completed and the total Completed on 6.79% Complete!
