[ESP-ING] Cuando crecer duele

I was talking to someone recently and realized that, for some people, growing up often hurts—or has hurt. Perhaps we all go through the same or similar moments, but we don’t all react the same way or feel the same way when facing life’s various challenges, since none of us is immune to them.
Life, in terms of personal growth, has its ups and downs, and this is what makes growing up truly painful. One of the things I think I shared with those people in my own personal growth journey is the loss of loved ones—and I’m not just talking about deaths, but also about friends who have moved on, people who felt like family and are no longer there, simply because many of us change and are no longer the same as we once were, others have moved away, and so the connection and friendship fade, but many relationships aren’t meant to last forever.
It may be that we can live with a part of our heart broken by the sadness of having lost important people in our lives—and here I am talking about death—people whose absence has left our souls shattered because they are no longer with us. This reminds me of the people in Venezuela who lost their loved ones on June 24; and they carry a deep sadness in their souls; in those dark moments, we might think we’ll never smile again.
On the other hand, it’s often necessary to go through moments of sadness to learn to appreciate the good times—it’s part of our healing process. But these are stages that allow us to grow; the good times will come again, and we’ll smile once more, because that’s how life is—it’s made up of stages of growth.
Life’s battles teach us to be resilient and persevering; they teach us to know ourselves and to improve; they bring us lessons that, even if we don’t understand them at the moment, we will come to understand later—and this is an invisible battle that each of us faces, and it makes us better people, but we’ll see that later.
Although this process of growth involves many difficult struggles, there are also joyful ones, because amid the pain and growth, hope, love, and joy will always remain. That is why each of us must live our lives in such a way that, even when we face difficult trials, joy, faith, hope, and love will ultimately prevail.
