Astray by Rachel K
Home repairs driving me up the wall.
Finding it hard to stand tall.
Dad quick to criticize
my dreamy artist eyes.
The tone of the yellow wall - pale.
In my mind I have failed.
A moment to recollect my thoughts.
Don’t practise choir as I ought.
Truth is: I’m an impostor.
Days pass on an empty roster.
My moment in a gallery
didn’t bring me a salary.
Strange days; strange nights.
Held on to the stray dog tight.
Its owner was stoned.
I went back to my phone.
