There Is Still More of Me to Meet - LoH Contest #285

This week’s question 2 had me in the throws of deep reflection. You know: the kind that makes you stop and think: “Wow, girl!…okay… I see you!”

Hive account@merit.ahama, if you had asked me years ago what my reason for living was, I probably would have answered like I was being interviewed for a magazine.

Something about purpose.
Something about success.
Something with a little soft lighting and a LinkedIn-ready smile.

:) Thankfully, life has humbled me.

These days, my reason for living is less glamorous and far more honest.

I want to become the kind of woman younger me would have felt safe around.

That is it.

A woman who keeps her word.
A woman who laughs loudly, but listens carefully.
A woman who can walk into a room without needing to shrink, sparkle, or explain herself to death.

I want to build things that matter.
Love people properly.
Protect my peace like it came with a security guard and a clipboard.

Some mornings, purpose looks like ambition.

Other mornings, it looks like making coffee, answering one email, and not allowing one silly human being to ruin my entire nervous system.

Progress, beloved.

So no, I do not have one grand reason for living.

I have many small ones.

To grow softer without becoming weaker.
To grow wiser without becoming bitter.
To leave evidence that I was here, and that I cared.

And on the difficult days?

My reason is simple.

Stay.

There is still more of me to meet
