El Fasher: A Poetry
In El Fasher's shadowed streets,
They flee...
A thousand on foot,
Seek sanctuary...
Eighteen months of seige,
New horrors awaken...
Mass graves dug,
A thousand bodies....
Blood and tears,
Echoes of massacre
Haunt all years.
Children cry for water,
Famine steals breath,
Cholera's blight.
Home's burnt,
Shattered by war,
& fear.
Stories of torture,
Lives bought & sold.
Yet light beats,
A faint flicker
Of hope.
The world must stand,
To witness & see...
The cost of silence.
