It's a Boy!: Our Surprise Gender Reveal for the New Member of Our Family

Hello my dear Hive friends! 💖 Wishing you all well and good health 🙏

Exciting news: our family is getting bigger! ✨ My mom is having another grandchild, but hey, it's not from me LOL 🤣 So, to celebrate, we prepared a surprise: a Baby Shower and Gender Reveal Party for our cousin and his wife who is currently pregnant. These kinds of surprises are so much fun, so I wanted to share with you our preparations.

It all started on Friday afternoon. My other cousin (the sibling of the baby’s father) came home early to help with the preparations. Usually, he comes home late. He actually came home early so that we could get ready before my cousin's wife got home from teaching at school. He brought a lot of things home, like Donuts, Ice Cream, Barbecue, Grilled Pork Belly, and groceries.

Since he is a good cook, he prepared Fried Chicken and Spaghetti. Filipino party isn’t complete without these foods! ✨ He was so excited to find out the gender the baby, but what he didn't know was that we all already knew the baby's gender, and he was the only one who didn't know yet haha 😆

While he was cooking, I helped design the backdrop. We chose blue and pink because of the gender reveal theme. We put up a metallic foil curtain as the background. There were also balloons and letter balloons that we made as "Boy" and "Girl." The design was simple, but because of the metallic colors, it looked elegant.

We also prepared a gender reveal party popper. This is one way to announce the baby's gender. My sister took care of the cake. Since she is the cake sponsor for almost all of our celebrations, she bought a customized a cake with blue or pink icing inside.

After the cooking was finished, we set up the food on the table, including soft drinks, wine, and alcohol. We were ready to surprise my cousin and his wife.

Around 7 pm, my cousin and his wife returned home. The shock and big smile on their faces was evident when they saw the set-up! 💖

First, we ask the father of the baby to pop the gender reveal party popper. And we all applauded when we saw the blue confetti that came out! 👏

Then, my cousin and his wife tried to cut the cake. And the icing inside was also blue! In gender reveal tradition, if it was blue, it means the baby's gender is a boy. If it was pink, it means it's a girl.

Yes, it’s a boy! 👶

Our surprise was a success! 🙌 My cousin and his wife were very happy. These kinds of surprises that bring the family together are really fun. We are all excited to meet the new baby boy who will be a blessing to our family! 💕
