Rain rain go away! Come again another day.. I'd find myself singing in those rainy months. Haha.. This life, no balance. Here's a sad memory, but when I revisit it, I laugh and thank Heavens for its grace so far.

When I found out I was pregnant, I could neither go back to the NYS camp, nor could I go home (I had just left for the camp), so, I opted for a come-we-try marriage. I moved in with my child's father where he lived. Three months in, the rain season started. This was around March, April. I looooove the rain. It's a lullaby and very therapeutic. But not in that area. Not in that plot.

At first, it was all good. The rainfall was minimal, one could not suspect that the Indian Ocean would relocate later on. The day it rained cats and dogs, I saw with my mouth. I had comfortably slept when I felt the urge to pee. It's not my habit to look down when I get out of bed, so I didn't. I just let my legs lead me, straight into the ocean. Suddenly, my pee vanished into the sight before me. Even before I could panic, my mouth blurted to the waters in the house, "Eeeiii! Mailood, who let you in?!"

Lemme laugh a little because, when I opened the door, I saw our neighbors busy assembling their share of the Indian Ocean from their houses. In the corridor, river Nile was still dancing about. That meant collecting a bucketful, carrying it along the river to go pour it in the bathroom. "Eeeiii! Is this what I signed up for?" I silently asked myself. But good thing, seeing I wasn't suffering alone gave me no chance to panic.

Hehe, I just rang my boyfriend/husband to come we collect the water 'coz wueh, I was seeing dust. No way I was doing it alone.

That taught me to house hunt in the rainy season whenever I want to relocate.
