The moment I signed up for the dating app, I knew that chance was the real play. Still, I filled out the form, listed what I wanted, and hit submit. That was me walking up to the slot machine; confident, steady, and above all hopeful. Hopeful that my chance to land my personal person was finally here.

But hey, slot machines don't always work out how we actually want them to, do they? I pulled the lever and came up with blanks. Nothing close to what I wanted. Disappointment knocked at the end of the day. But hope, it has a way of whispering, try again tomorrow.

So I did. Tomorrow became the next, then the next. Like an addict eyeing the slot machine lever, I eyed my app. One last pull, I told myself. Just one. I pulled, and chance, once again, looked the other way.

That was my sign. No more pulling. No more misusing energy on reels that never align. But still, even in blanks, I stumbled across a few unexpected faces; friends I wouldn't have met otherwise. So I walk away, not with the jackpotI hoped for, but with small wins worth keeping.
