What are Gems?

Gems are a Hive Engine token built on top of the Hive blockchain. We utilize H-E as an additional layer of rewards. Gems are given to streamers in addition to hive, based on the staked Gems of the people who upvote them. New Gems are generated at a rate of 10,000 per year. These gems are disbursed daily based on the upvotes given to streamers.

To influence the disbursement of Gems, you need to stake the gems you currently hold. From any page on the Vimm website,click on the wallet icon in the upper right, and then click on "Full Wallet." You should see something like this:

Click on the drop down arrow next to "Send" and choose the "Power Up" option. Choose how many gems you want to stake, and then submit. You will need to use your Active key to stake your Gems, and it may take a few minutes to apply the change.

@vimm intends to use Gems as a means of monetizing the site. Premium memberships are under development, and should be live soon. In addition, @vimm sells gems through the website. Gems can be purchased for $1USD worth of Hive. As time progresses, we plan to offer other features that can be purchased with Gems.
