Seoul Peace Prize 2018 for Modi
Over 25 NGOs protested against the Seoul Peace Prize 2018 for India's PM Modi. They cited 2002 riots in India's Gujarat where thousands of Muslims had been killed when Modi was then the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
Apart from the Gujarat riot, there are several other areas of concern....
Communal violence has gone up by 28% under Modi's rule. Anti-Muslim bigotry has become normalized. Violence against women has also increased.
So it's quite understandable why some NGOs would called the Seoul Peace Prize 2018 being conferred on Modi as a 'disgrace'.
