The India Republic day is celebrated on the 26th of January every year. However, this year's republic day has been boycotted in some Indian states, especially in Mizoram and Nagaland.

In Mizoram, Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan addressed a nearly empty ground, as the people boycotted the republic day in protest against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, which would grant citizenship to the non-indigenous.

Nagaland state has also seen people boycotting the Republic Day.
