In a world filled with noisy distractions, stress and burn out it's necessary to have an escape. Maybe some alone time with music, solo dates or just the peace and quiet of our rooms.

One would expect that as a student that goes through so much stress my safe haven would be me resting and just being away from everything in general so I can breathe.

But surprisingly my safe haven for relaxation is not the places, it's not being in the quiet of my room and listening to calm relaxing music. It's with people, my friends.

With them, the whole weight of stress, and everything in between just goes off. They make me laugh, listen to all my complaints about nursing school, my lectures and lecturers even. They make me understand that I'm human, I have feelings and those are valid, I can make mistakes because everybody does and they just in general make me LIVE.

They ease me of mental burdens I don't even know I carry and for that I'm forever grateful. With them I can be loud, poetic, I can be in love, I can live and be in my emotions for as long as I like to be without being judged.

It's always with the little things they do:

“Oh I sent a rider with your favorite food”

“I know you love chocolates so I just had to get it for you”

“I saw a content about how hard nursing school is…if you need anything let me know”

“I'm always proud of you”

It's us creating a bond through our little outings, cozy therapy sessions, cooking and ranting each other ears off. It's the understanding and trust we build. That's why I feel safe with them. So yeah, I love my friends and my friends love me.
