The tempter
The figure on the far left which appears on the western façade of Basel Cathedral is rather unnerving. He holds an apple and seems rather pleased with himself, at least from the front. Behind is something else where his true nature is evident with a swarm of rats and snakes. As inviting as temptation would appear, its reality is quite something else and sinister. I tried to enhance this by turning the image from colour to sepia.
