Wisdom Arrives Quietly
I want to suspend judgment, because my first conclusion has often arrived long before the whole truth had the chance to reach me,
I want to suspend judgment, noticing how quickly old beliefs rush forward to explain what they have barely begun to understand,
I want to suspend judgment, allowing unfamiliar ideas to remain unfinished instead of forcing them into comfortable predicted answers,
I want to suspend judgment, with all of the noise, am I receiving what is being offered or defending what I already believe,
I want to suspend judgment, if chances are that you could just be willing and open, only you could and another doorway quietly appears…
I loosen certainty, every time my mind reaches for agreement disagreement praise or rejection before truly understanding the heart beneath the words,
I loosen certainty, because opinions have too often interrupted conversations that could have changed something essential inside me especially the whispers I fail to recognize,
I loosen certainty, discovering that openness asks far more courage despite the urge of needing to be right,
I loosen certainty, with all of the pain and uncertainties, can I remain curious longer than my certainty wants to,
I loosen certainty, truest wisdom begins arriving without any kind of announcement as I am here and open…
I gather gently, with the fragments of another person’s story without rearranging them until they resemble my own experience,
I gather gently, resisting the quiet temptation to compare every confession against wounds I already recognize inside myself,
I gather gently, remembering that every life carries meanings I will never completely inherit or translate, or even easily interpret,
I gather gently, am I witnessing my own soul healing or replacing them with my comfortable reflection again and again,
I gather gently, with every bit of understanding, it grows roots instead of opinions and patience…
I leave each conversation transformed, as every honest and quiet exchange quietly reshapes the person who enters it before a single word is spoken,
I leave each conversation transformed, carrying questions that deepen my understanding more profoundly than simple answers ever could,
I leave each conversation transformed, grateful that listening has become less about agreement and more about becoming beautifully understood all over again,
I leave each conversation transformed, can I protect this openness after I return to the familiar inner work from the world outside,
I leave each conversation transformed, as silence came to rescue me, freedom sounds different inside my own heart now…
Watchwords:
Another doorway appears
Wisdom arrives quietly
Understanding grows roots
Beautifully unfinished again
Freedom sounds different
