If I found out my friend is a vampire

If I found out one day that my friend is a vampire and his family is also from the same kingdom, what would be my reaction? My answer to this is a realistic one: I would find it very hard to maintain the friendship, no matter how hard I try to. It’ll be very hard to keep that friendship.

I have only heard about vampires in movies, and in those movies, vampires feed on flesh and blood. Maybe I might be their next meal one day. I know they’ve kept it away from me all these years of friendship and have been sorting out their means of survival, but anything can happen one day. Maybe they run out of flesh and blood, and I’m the only solution to their meal, they might use me one day to satisfy themselves.

When I start to distance myself, my friend will feel it, which might bring a little bit of malice if care is not taken. But I’m not going to allow that to happen because I’ll make it clear to him and possibly find out how he and his family have been coping with people around them. I will let him know that I fear for my life and wouldn’t want to be hurt one day. I know it sounds very easy the way I’m writing it, but it’s going to be hard to say it to him boldly. Still, I’ll try to make it plain and peaceful. There won’t be any malice or whatsoever; we’ll just maintain some distance.

And for other people, no, I wouldn’t let others know since it’s a secret in their family. I’ll maintain that confidentiality, and I just hope I don’t find myself in a situation where I’ll be forced to tell people.
