OLD BARN โ„– 101

This barn is located along Scotland Road, but I'm not sure how that road got its name... perhaps some Scottish people settled in the area long ago...? Honestly, that is a plausible explanation. Many people from Scotland and Ireland settled in the Appalachian Mountain region after migration to North America, and this property is in the piedmont of those mountains. Maybe Old MacDonald, from the famous folk song, had his farm there. I always thought a cute URL for a farm's website would be: ย ๐šŽ๐š’๐šŽ.๐š’๐š˜ย  ๐Ÿ˜ LOL!

This is a decent sized barn, not too large, not too small. I rather like the asymmetrical shape and find the length of the roof on the right side quite fascinating. I can't help but wonder if, perhaps, the extreme right-hand portion of the barn was an add-on sometime after the barn was built. If one looks closely, there is a section to the right of the ladders where the roof makes a slightly different angle than the remainder. Maybe the owner needed just a little bit more storage space, so he added another section.

Since there is only one large door, no visible ventilation features, and a rather large amount of equipment parked outside, I think this barn is more for general storage than housing livestock, hay storage, or anything else. And judging from the amount of "stuff" outside, the landowner might actually need a bigger barn. ๐Ÿ˜œ

Just beneath the apex of the roof on the front, there's something white hanging there and I'd like to know what it is! I can think of three possibilities: it might be (1) an area light, (2) a security camera, or (3) an animal skull (either real or a fiberglass replica). But, I can't quite decide since I was a good distance away from the barn when I took the photo.

I was rather amused by a comment on my last barn post, where stresskiller@stresskiller said the area looked like it was "in the middle of nowhere" ๐Ÿ˜ And it's somewhat trueย โ€” much of this area is rather rural. Nothing but big fields and forests, plus a few houses dotting the landscape, several kilometers/miles from the nearest town. And that's much of the charm to this very green spot on the globe! ๐Ÿ’š
