Splinterlands: Captain Frankie and a Devastating Rodent Team!
Not all that long ago, my friend created a Splinterlands post dedicated to just how much he hates Captain Frankie. Not because he is a bad card, just the opposite as a matter of fact. He is an incredibly strong archon that used in the right situation is hard to beat. The caveat is that he is also very, very expensive!
This season I somehow managed to get a rental on Captain Frankie at level three for not very expensive. I snapped it up as fast as I could and immediately started to figure out how to use him in gameplay. At first it didn't go well at all... After several devastating losses I learned the tricks to success and now he's one of my favorites in the right situations!
He's a legendary archon that comes from the Conclave Arcana decks. Being a legendary, there aren't that many out there, and they are very expensive. Especially in higher levels! Maybe not LLama expensive from back in the Untamed days, but still not cheap!
You are able to stack Inspire very efficiently with this archon as he gives it to all allied units. His Bloodline Dominion allows you to use any Rodentian or Tideborn type cards from available splinters. He also let you assign Pierce and True Strike to two of your unit members. That means when they hit a shielded card not only do they damage the shielding but any remaining attack is applied to the victims health where it normally would be lost. It also allows these two cards not to miss their attacks on the opponent's cards. Overall, this is one nasty archon!
Now time to see him in action with some Rodentian cards!

This is a battle in Modern with a relatively small mana cap of 36. The rulesets for this match are Lost Magic, so no magic attacks can be used, and Outsider which allows the use of a card from Wild mode. Normally I love Outsider, but not in this scenario. Fortunately, all the Splinters are available making all of the stars align for use of the rodent attack using Captain Frankie.
For my archon I chose Captain Frankie as he is the feature of today's post. In first position I placed Saltwraith Pirate as when falls he activated Bloodline Tribute to all Rodentian units adding more speed, health, and most importantly attack. And my team is nothing but rodents, so it's a great strategy! Next up I place Nim Guard Captain as my tank followed by Echelon. Next I placed Vicious Quilliun with the next choice being Broken Earth Thug. Last up I placed the legendary card Kervic which combines really well with Frankie!
You will notice that my team has a lot of Foundations cards, they are becoming more and more important in Modern and you really should get your Foundations deck maxed out!
My opponent also chose Captain Frankie and for a tank used Quilliun Legionary. Next he chose Tidal Tsunamist following that with Vicious Quilliun. The next card was interesting in it's placement as they used Gallicus,a legendary taunt card. Last up they used Echelon and Broken Earth Thug.
It's important to note that I missed using my tactics from my archon in this one, but it still works out! The screenshot above is after all the buffs are in place, just look at the attack of all of my cards, they are massive. The beauty of Inspire stacking with Captain Frankie!
Here my Echelon one shot kills Gallicus.
And my Saltwraith Pirate is eliminated resulting in Bloodline Tribute to every single one of my remaining units!
Just look at the attack on Kervic after that extra boost!
Kervic one shot kills the Vicious Quilliun!
And the final deathblow is delivered by the Vicious Quilliun! Great game to my opponent! In this match I had an unfair advantage of a level three archon vs my opponent's level one. But the match just goes to show just how devastating a rodent team can be with Inspire stacking and Bloodline Tribute. This team doesn't work under all circumstances, and you need all of the splinters available and have a relatively low mana cap. It is fun to use an all rodent team though!
Foundations Packs Opening
This was a recent opening of three Foundations packs I had won through gameplay. They came out with some very lucky pulls!
The first pack was kind of meh...
The second two things got exciting! Two legendary pulls with one being a gold legendary, I would have preferred the Mystic Scaleweaver to have been gold, but beggars can't be choosers! Celestial Guardian is not a card I use all that often, but useful in earthquake rulesets.
I don't get this kind of luck very often, so I just had to share it in this post! Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't...
