NYSC Separated Us; Portharcourt Brought Us Back
On today’s episode of life lately 🤭
July 9th was my Passing Out Parade and one week later I was in Portharcourt, arms wide open, hugging people I hadn’t seen in eleven months 🥹
NYSC scattered us. I went to Benue, Michelle was in Akwa Ibom, Sophia finished service a year ago, Tosin served in Bayelsa. Well, we intentionally wanted to explore other parts of the country but mhen, my own was so so shocking. Imagine a Southerner in the North 😭 everything felt backwards but thank God I adapted. For almost a year, our group chat was home. We shared PPA stress, allowance gist, our new friends, and random "are you okay" at 2am 😂🤭 We were in different corners of Nigeria but living the same struggles.
Then PH happened.
The first hug felt like a year of waiting exhaling at once. The jokes hit harder, the food tasted like memories. We stayed up late like nothing changed, even though we all had; we talked about everything possible 🥳 we didn’t bother going out. It was our lock-in week and trust me it was worth it. Someone said, "It’s like we just paused life and pressed play." That line stayed with me because at the time, it was our reality 😅
One year apart taught me this: real friendship doesn’t expire, distance stretches it, but it doesn’t break it. Sometimes God scatters you just to show you who will run back to you. And I’m glad we ran back to each other 🥳
Now I’m back home in Delta, with family and a new baby in the house 👀 don’t worry I’ll tell you about my babysitting schedule, baby is crying 😂😭 until then, byeeee 🤗
