🇪🇸 ~ Feliz Needleworkmonday a todos amigos, los abrazo mucho y espero estén bien; por aquí los días están mejorando, de pronto hay un clima mas fresco, hemos tenido al menos 3 días seguidos de suave lluvia, y la atmosfera se ha vuelto repentinamente fresca, apacible y agradablemente perezosa.

Este pasado sábado y domingo fueron especialmente acogedores, llovió por horas desde la noche hasta el amanecer y es el tipo de clima maravilloso que te hace querer apagar todo y tomar hilo y aguja para coser con intensión pero por sobre todo con gusto, con deleite.

Hablando de eso, pase las ultimas horas del domingo re-haciendo el totebag temático que me obsequiaron con el entrada al evento al que asistí hace algunas semanas. Es un totebag de tela canvas gruesa, se siente muy bien al tacto pero bueno... me conocen... soy detallista y aunque no quisiera lo empecé a observar, como observo todo lo de tela que llega a mis manos.

🇺🇸 ~ Happy Needlework Monday to all my friends, big hugs to you all, and I hope you’re doing well; things are looking up around here—the weather has suddenly turned cooler. We’ve had at least three days in a row of light rain, and the atmosphere has suddenly become cool, peaceful, and pleasantly lazy.

This past Saturday and Sunday were especially cozy; it rained for hours from night until dawn, and it’s the kind of wonderful weather that makes you want to turn everything off and pick up a needle and thread to sew with purpose but, above all, with joy and delight.

Speaking of which, I spent the last few hours of Sunday reworking the themed tote bag I was given as a gift with my ticket to the event I attended a few weeks ago. It’s a tote bag made of thick canvas; it feels great to the touch, but well… you know me… I’m a perfectionist, and even though I didn’t want to, I started examining it, just as I examine every piece of fabric that comes into my hands.

Este totebag tiene unas imágenes muy lindas de uno de los personajes originales del evento. Pero las costuras estaban sueltas, como si la máquina de coser con que lo fabricaron tuviese problemas de tensión o una aguja demasiado usada, así que habían varias partes con vacíos, puntadas saltadas.

Mientras mas lo veía pensé, "puedo re-hacerlo y hacerlo mas solido, mas resistente, qué tal muchos bolsillos dentro, y algunas pestañas para colgar llaveros... también un cierre trasero, y si quito un poquito de aquí alcanza para unas azas... SI, LO DESARMARÉ".

Mientras mas analizaba las posibilidades más me emocionaba, por eso este fue un proyecto con mucha libertad para mi, totalmente autoindulgente, y espero que si alguna persona de la organización del evento o la persona que fabricó esto encuentra este post, sepa que respeto su trabajo ; u ; solo me sentí de pronto súper apegada, como una niña, con este bonito bolso, quiero que este conmigo muchos años y por eso me anime a re-formarlo, para hacerlo mas usable, mas útil para el día a día pero especialmente para hacerlo mas fuerte.

This tote bag features some really cute images of one of the event’s original characters. But the stitching was loose, as if the sewing machine used to make it had tension issues or a worn-out needle, so there were several spots with gaps and skipped stitches.

The more I looked at it, the more I thought, “I can redo it and make it sturdier, more durable—how about lots of pockets inside, and some tabs to hang keychains… also a back zipper, and if I take a little bit off here, there’ll be enough for handles… YES, I’LL TAKE IT APART.”

The more I analyzed the possibilities, the more excited I got. That’s why this was a project that gave me a lot of freedom—totally self-indulgent—and I hope that if anyone from the event organizers or the person who made this finds this post, they know that I respect their work ; u ; I just suddenly felt super attached, like a little girl, to this beautiful bag. I want it to be with me for many years, and that’s why I decided to rework it—to make it more usable, more practical for everyday life, but especially to make it stronger.

La parte mas entretenida de hacer fue re-hacer las azas, que dieron algo de pelea porque no querían ceder sus arrugas al calor de la plancha, y el forro cuenta en total con 4 bolsillos. Mira el detalle de las azas y compara con las originales.

The most fun part of the project was redoing the handles, which gave me a bit of a hard time because they wouldn't smooth out under the heat of the iron, and the lining has a total of four pockets. Take a look at the details of the handles and compare them to the originals.

El resultado final quedó mejor de lo que planee, logré darle unos centímetros extra de tamaño al bolso al cambiar el estilo de instalación de las azas, y el contraste del color del forro interior con el color suave de la lona es realmente cutie.

También entre mis materiales acumulados encontré bases para llaveros, tome uno dorado y con eso instale todos los mini obsequios colgantes que venían en el pack de la entrada VIP del evento.

The final result turned out better than I had planned; I managed to add a few extra centimeters to the bag by changing how the handles were attached, and the contrast between the lining’s color and the soft shade of the canvas is really cute.

I also found some keychain bases among my stash of materials; I picked a gold one and used it to attach all the mini hanging gifts that came in the VIP event entry pack.

En total, las cosas que cupieron en este bolso al terminarlo fueron una calculadora grande, un celular, una cartuchera pequeña, un cuaderno escolar y una agenda mediana, ¡nada mal!.

Lamento la mala calidad de muchas de las fotos, entre las fallas del servicio eléctrico y el clima nublado la buena iluminación para fotos es escasa, pero espero que este recorrido creativo, esta ventana a un día de costura relajada conmigo te haya hecho sonreír.

In total, the things that fit in this bag when I finished it were a large calculator, a cell phone, a small pencil case, a school notebook, and a medium-sized planner—not bad at all!

I apologize for the poor quality of many of the photos; between power outages and cloudy weather, good lighting for photos is scarce, but I hope this creative journey—this glimpse into a relaxing day of sewing with me—has made you smile.
