Triple Talaq Bill Passed in India
Yesterday on 30th July 2019 historic step has been taken in India. The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill or Triple Talaq bill passed in Rajya Sabha. I passed with 99 to 84 votes. BJP, the ruling party considers it as a major win, while opposition parties walk out and opposed the bill.
After this, the triple talaq or The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill will go to President of India for his assent. After that, Triple Talaq (uttering talaq three times in one seating) is void and illegal. A Muslim man who is adopting this method for divorce can be sentenced to jail for three years.
