The News

Not much happening with the prices these days. $HIVE is still stuck in the doldrums and needs fresh activity to move it. It does run very parallel with the 'legacy coin'.

Prices from @coingecko

I am not aware of any major news this week, but I will always miss some things, so feel free to say so in comments or do your own post.

Friday Follows

  • lordbutterfly@lordbutterfly had some thoughts on content discovery. I would agree that the Trending page is not the ideal place to find interesting posts. Too many of the big votes are automated and given to friends rather than quality posts.
  • meno@meno thinks hashtags may not be so useful either. I think they can have uses to track particular themes. It may be that 'AI' can give us better feeds, but I like to have some control. We ought to make good use of communities to get like-minded people together as other platforms do. It should not just be about chasing votes.
  • ravenmus1c@ravenmus1c put out more free music that you can use in videos.
  • louis88@louis88 has been finding more bugs in various web apps. Security is hard, but crucial, especially when funds are at risk.
  • slobberchops@slobberchops is giving out votes, but you need to meet his criteria. I do something similar with tenkminnows@tenkminnows, but I select for different elements.
  • sagarkothari88@sagarkothari88 featured on the Hive Thrive show to talk about his dapps. It is well worth getting on the live Discord chat where you will find some top Hivers discussing all sorts of topics.
  • I have often posted about the various comics on Hive and am happy to keep doing so as I think they deserve more support. Put some entertainment in your feed from dead-pets@dead-pets, sidekickmatt@sidekickmatt and northwestnomad@northwestnomad. Are there others you enjoy?
  • nicklewis@nicklewis started the #churchproject to document churches. I think it is mostly those in England so far, but it would interesting to see more from around the world.

The End

How are you feeling about Hive lately? I totally get that some people need whatever they can earn online and Hive ought to be an option, but some of us are lucky not to really need it and so the price is not so important. I think Hive also has value in being a place we can post that is not controlled by some corporation that seeks to exploit us. We can build our own apps/dapps on it and many people are doing so. Of course it is not perfect, as I often say. People could post illegal and abusive content, but we do have the means to make that less visible. That said, someone could build a front end that ignores downvotes and low reputation. We have people with strong opinions and big votes here so they will express themselves in various ways. That is a freedom that Hive offers, but anyone can post here anyway.

Enjoy the freedom and Hive five!
