Hydrant | Monomad Challenge [ENG-ESP]

It was not at all my intention to portray it, but today I passed by a street, saw it, and thought it was a good idea to take some pictures, not only because I have seen very few of them in the city, but also because it looks old.

The hydrants or fire hydrants were designed so that a plentiful source of water would be available in case of fire. They can be seen on sidewalks and are usually located in fairly populated areas, so in an emergency, firefighters attach their hoses there.

The hydrant that I show you in these photos is located in a residential area, and its appearance is different from those commonly seen out there, wide and short. This one is tall, post type, and that's why it doesn't go unnoticed, on its body you can read: PONT A MOUSSON, when looking for information on the Internet I found that it is of French manufacture.

I have no idea if it works, as in Venezuela there have been problems with the piped water supply in recent years, and as in many areas the flow is not constant, perhaps many of these hydrants have remained as simple urban ornaments. It would be interesting to stop by the fire station one day and ask if these devices are still operational.

Para nada tenía la intención de retratarlo, pero hoy pasé por una calle, lo vi, y me pareció buena idea tomarle unas fotos, no sólo porque he visto muy pocos en la ciudad, sino también porque se ve que es antiguo.

Los hidrantes o bocas de incendio fueron diseñados para que una fuente de agua abundante esté disponible en caso de incendios. Se pueden ver en las aceras y suelen estar ubicados en zonas bastante pobladas, de este modo ante una emergencia, los bomberos conectan allí sus mangueras.

El hidrante que les muestro en estas fotos se encuentra en una zona residencial, y su aspecto es diferente de los que se ven habitualmente por ahí, anchos y bajitos. Este es alto, tipo poste, y por eso no pasa desapercibido, en su cuerpo se lee: PONT A MOUSSON, al buscar información en Internet encontré que es de fabricación francesa.

No tengo idea si funciona, como en Venezuela ha habido problemas con el suministro de agua por tubería los últimos años, y en muchas zonas el flujo no es constante, quizás muchos de estos hidrantes han quedado como simples ornamentos urbanos. Sería interesante pasar un día por la estación de bomberos y preguntar si estos dispositivos siguen operativos.
