What are your “comfort factors” when visiting a cafe?
Let’s talk about the factors that make a cafe comfortable enough.
People may have several different reasons to go to a cafe. Especially someone like me, who actually doesn't understand anything about coffee and doesn't mind to drink cheap coffee sachets over and over again. So when I go to a cafe, it’s almost never specifically for the coffee itself.
Instead, I often want to go for the “vibe”. So, I have several preferences for the cafes I like to visit. For this blog, I want to write about a cafe brand I’ve written about before, but this one is located in a different area.
This cafe brand has a similar interior design for their branches across the city. Talking about the comforting parts when I visit a cafe, for me the first is the atmosphere. Since I sometimes feel uncomfortable being around a lot of people, I prefer quieter types of cafes. A cafe with several little nooks or corners that make doing work or tasks a bit more relaxing. Some cafes claim to have “introverted corners” but sometimes the distance between tables are too close one to another, which for me it can gets uncomfortable as well.
But that’s not the case here. The tables are comfortably spaced apart, allowing us to have our own little space. And as you can see from the pictures I took, the materials they use are mostly wood, which makes the vibes somehow feel calmer in my opinion.
Some cafes over-decorate their space, while others opt for an extreme minimalist look to the point where it looks pretty boring. But I think this cafe has managed to find the middle idea. They’ve managed to create a space that’s quite inviting, but not too overwhelmed to look at (if you know what I mean)
When we talk about atmosphere, we can’t forget about “the sound” in a cafe. Besides the fact that we can’t control how noisy it is because it depends on the visitors at times, some cafes also play not-so-soothing types of music with not-so-normal volume, shall I say😅
Have you ever experienced those kinds of cafes? I don’t get why they even do that. But here, I found that the sound is still comfortable with a playlist of (mostly) ballad songs that are pretty nice to accompany you while checking off your to-do list.
Now, speaking of to-do lists, I know many people come to a cafe for work. So, of course, reliable wifi is what you needed the most. However, when I visited this cafe, the wifi wasn't working properly. Maybe it was just my unlucky day, but the wifi was consistently stable at other locations of this cafe brand. Unstable wifi can disrupt work or tasks, that’s the only thing that bothered me when I visited this cafe.
Lastly, as I mentioned earlier that coffee isn't my top priority when trying a new cafe, I just ordered a regular coffee with milk and less sugar. It was fine just because it tasted familiar from my regular visits to other branches at the time.
This cafe also has a few types of pastries but doesn't have meals on their menu. The pastries look tempting, but I often don’t feel like pairing a sweet drink with another sweet menu. Sometimes I just opted a simple glazed donut because it would be awkward if I only ordered one item but lingered there a bit longer haha
anyway, thanks for reading as always :) have a nice day, hivers!
