Enjoying Maize

I was just watching my siblings as they enjoyed the precious gift of nature, that is maize (or some people call it corn). This is one amazing thing I personally admire. Maize is a delicious cereal. It provides us with a lot of precious nutrients. Besides eating it raw as my siblings and I are doing, I have discovered that several processed food items are made from this.

We enjoy a popular food stuff in country known as semovita. Semovita is made from a combination of some food materials as maize, cassava, rice and some others which I might not know of. These raw food items are blended together to make this beautiful food stuff. Maize is the major constituent. We use Semovita as a popular component of our food in my country.

There is another popular food mainly taken in the morning and in the evening. This is pap. Pap is made by soaking maize in water for some days (about 3 - 5 days). After the maize has soaked, it is milled and sieved with fine sieve. The resulting suspension is water makes the pap. To prepare the meal, water is boiled and then the maize slurry is added and stirred to obtain a gelatinous, viscous liquor. One can add sugar and milk if desired. That is a very delicious meal.
