RETIRED NOT TIRED

EVEN AT 100 & BEYOND, I WANT TO BE INDEPENDENT ‼️

At 66, I feel like 40 or even younger: At this age, many people expect life to slow down. Some believe this is the time to depend on children, relatives, or government support. But my case is different: I refuse to become a burden to anyone. What works in my favour is sound health; I'm also blessed with passion to write and read.

Over the years, I have seen how quickly circumstances can change. People who were once strong and independent suddenly found themselves relying on others, not because they wanted to, but because they had no choice. I don’t want that to be my story. I have decided to remain active, productive, and financially independent for as long as I live.

Financial independence is not just about money, it is about dignity, freedom, and peace of mind. The freedom to make my own decisions; the ability to take care of my needs without stress. I strongly believe that as long as a man can think, learn, and act, he can still create value, regardless of age.

Based on this knowledge, I decided to fully commit to building new sources of income, both online and offline after retirement. On one hand, I am exploring opportunities online where I can showcase my talent and skills; because I can write and also love engaging with people, I choose Hive blockchain. Hive is a new world for me, but I am determined to learn and understand how it's done and make the most of it.

On the other hand, I want to invest in agriculture, specifically catfish farming, poultry, and snail farming. My choice of getting involved in farming is not only about making money; it's a hobby. I have already written the business plan; next is to raise the seed capital. This combo is a practical, sustainable venture that can generate steady income if done properly and I'm passionate about it.

Although I'm an Engineering Technologist, I have a passion for writing and farming as a hobby. I'm here to learn, interact, earn and share my experiences. I hope I will be able to encourage someone who may feel it is “too late” to start new things. I don’t know exactly how far I will go, but I'm here to have fun at 66. I'm very sure, if I don't exercise my brain by writing/reading regularly and my body by performing simple tasks on the farm, I would soon appear older than my age.

Thanks for sparing your time to read my intro; as long as I hang around here, I will give regular updates on my activities. Based on research, I can boldly say, there is no dull moment with Hive.

Power & Energy Educator | Electrical Engineer (Power & Machines) I write practical, easy-to-understand articles on electricity generation, utilisation, generators, solar, inverters, energy efficiency, and electrical safety — with a strong Nigerian/African context. My goal is to help homes, churches, and small businesses make smarter power decisions, reduce energy waste, and avoid costly electrical mistakes. Occasionally, I also share faith-based reflections on life, integrity, endurance, and practical Christian living.
