Chess Rebirth ♟️

Yeah. I'm back.

After a few weeks of *lifing*, I'm finally back on the board ready to give my Elo a new lift.

Chess is a fun, interactive past time for me. Just something I can play to keep my brain active and bring a sense of strategy filled dopamine.

But now, I guess it's becoming something more.

Firstly, I went and checked for the true calculation and meaning of Elo in chess and lichess and realized that mine is actually pretty average. In fact, pretty less than average.

I always considered myself a good enough player; if anything, I was competent. Yet I find myself making small mistakes, blunders and missing opportunities to help end a match sooner and that costs me my win in sometimes the most embarrassing ways.

Yet, with an ELO of 837, it shows that I'm just volatile enough to score a win in some of the most crazy of ways too.

Some of my chess friends actually studied, learned courses and did a whole lot of things to learn how to play this game while I did it in just one boring Saturday afternoon during my highschool in the hostel. (A typical Seki way of living)

Despite how cool it might sound, this means I'm not as well versed or grounded as some other players are.

I don't know the name of the flash openings, the majority of my openings start from the pawn in front of the king going up 2 spaces first and from there I move as the game processes.

What I like about it is that sometimes it can bring diverse or scattered styles as my lack of a distinct style drags my opponent to make unconventional moves to try and block my overly aggressive approach.

*(888 Elo opponent btw)*

As shown above this works most of the time, as blocking my pieces makes you lose sight of whatever initial strategy you had planned out.

Yet it doesn't work all the time and I could end up slicing myself with my sword.

At the end of the day. I simply want to become more consistent, win more, lose less and stack up points.

Hopefully before the ending of August I'll be in the 950's to 1000's.

It's all about my consistency, my strategy and how calm my mindset is. If I'm able to, maybe I'll join some of the hive chess competitions too.

♟️ **It seems after the update I can't share links of the game GIFs anymore and the GIFs are too big to download and upload on here via normal methods, hence on the post are links to some of my past games instead of the play by play GIFs.**
