Seasick Steve - Bootstraps
Seasick Steve is an American blues musician who sometimes performs as a one-man band and sometimes with a group. He has been performing for more than thirty years, starting out as a busker, but he gained wider recognition in 2006 with his appearance on the Joos Holland Hootenanny Show. Since then, he has been a regular guest at various festivals around the world.
“Bootstraps” is a single and a preview of his upcoming album, The Last Season of America, which will be released in September. It’s a typical example of his raw, honest blues about reality and hope in difficult times.

Protomartyr - Sounds We Cannot Hear
Protomartyr is an American band from Detroit. They’ve been playing since 2010 and have released several EPs and five studio albums to date. Their sound can be categorized as post-punk, with elements of noise, art, and garage rock. Their lyrics are philosophical, dark, and socially critical.
The song “Sounds We Cannot Hear” is a single released last month to promote their sixth album, Hotel Usona, set for release in September. A powerful rhythm and dynamic guitar riffs provide the backdrop for baritone vocals that speak of numbness, alienation, information overload, and the daily struggle to survive.

The Limit - Sidetracked
The Limit is a relatively new international band that caught my eye because Sony Vincent - whom I’ve known for decades and even recorded once - plays guitar and sings in it; after that, I lost track of him completely. They’ve been playing since 2020 and have released two albums with this lineup.
The song “Sidetracked” is from their latest album, Another Drop, which was released last week. It’s a fast, analog, “in-your-face” track that captures the band’s raw energy.

ANGINE DE POITRINE — Sahardnieh (early mix)
Angine de Poitrine is a Canadian instrumental duo from Quebec. They formed in 2019, just for fun, for a local gig. The band’s name means “angina pectoris.” They perform in absurd polka-dot costumes and enormous papier-mâché masks with long noses. They went viral earlier this year, attracting millions of listeners on social media, and are now on international tours. Music critics, however, are still wondering what this is all about. Essentially, it’s rock music based on a Dadaist concept and repetition—math/experimental rock featuring microtonal guitars, looping, and a hypnotic, repetitive structure.
The song “Sahardieh” is from their 2024 debut album Vol. 1, which was released as a single and music video last week.

Siddharta - Khanta
Siddharta is one of Slovenia’s best-known rock bands. They’ve been around since 1995 and have released several EPs and ten studio albums. Their music covers a lot of ground, from alternative rock with progressive touches to metal, industrial, and electronic sounds.
“Khanta” is from their newest album, X, which came out in 2024. The official music video, filmed during an urban safari in New York, was released just a few days ago and is full of energy. The song looks at the misery, spectacle, emptiness, and decadence of modern Western life.

FifteenØeight- FAITHFUL
FifteenØeight is an American alternative pop/electronic duo from Boston. They’ve been playing since 2021 and have released several singles and EPs, as well as two albums. Their genre-bending alternative pop/electronic sound features hypnotic drums, ethereal vocals, deep bass lines, and experimental elements.
The song “Faithful” is from their latest EP, I’m Fkn Fine, released in July of this year. It has an emotional, atmospheric sound and features live strings. They’re a new band for me, and I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on them.

MOTHER SHIPTON - AVALANCHE
Mother Shipton is a new rock ’n’ roll band from Portsmouth, UK. They started playing shows in early 2025. While they haven’t put out a full album yet, they do have a few singles. Their music stands out for its lively, melodic guitar riffs and three different vocalists who take turns singing.
Their newest single, “Avalanche,” came out just eight days ago. It’s a catchy, guitar-driven song with a lot of energy. I’m interested to see what they do next.
🎵 🎧 🎵
Anthrax - Everybody's Got A Plan
And finally, the legendary Anthrax, an American thrash metal band from New York. They’ve been active for over 45 years and have released 11 studio albums. A classic thrash metal band with elements of hardcore punk and, later, groove and alternative metal.
The song “Everybody’s Got A Plan” is a single from their new album, Cursum Perficio, set for release in September. The title and opening line (“Everybody’s got a plan until they get punched in the face”) are inspired by a quote from boxer Mike Tyson. Fans of the genre are sure to be thrilled.
