Wait, life isn’t just about objectivity? Things can be subjective? People can actually feel emotions? Oh, I see! It's all about materialistic values. “Materialists” is the kind of movie where no one has any real chemistry, and the idea of loving someone, flaws and all, feels alien until the script explicitly states it. I can appreciate the film for giving those who view relationships as transactional something to ponder, so I suppose it wasn’t the worst experience. It would have worked better as a straightforward satire of the modern dating scene. So good Kind of felt like the anti-rom com
With a wit and a sharp sense of humor that reminded me of an old James L Brooks film. I love how it does still use certain aspects of a romcom but gives way to a very beautiful drama dissecting so much about love, dating, and how modern society has affected the human connection. That modern dating has taken the film is, while still wrapping into a heartwarming conclusion overall in a great way.

One of my favourite scenes was the breakup scene. So beautifully shot and composed, Dakota and Pedro play it perfectly, and it is such a great way of showing an amiable, calm breakup.
