Overheards #6 - Learning to Count
This overheard is from 2013
I was walking out of the central public library, down some flights of stairs. In front of me, also walking down the stairs, were a mother with her pre-school 3 or 4 year old daughter. The daughter, with her short little legs was slowly stepping down the steps one foot at a time, as in right foot down a step, left foot down to join the right foot on the same step and so on. She was counting out the steps as she went along as, "one and two and three and four and five and six and seven and ..err.. eleven". On the next flight of stairs down she went "one and two and three and four and five and six and seven and lots and lots and lots". Delightfully cute.
