THE BANJO SHARK

20190413_001617.jpg

I went fishing late last night on the beach and had the privilege of catching a rare banjo shark.
They are beautiful and have amazing patterns on them to blend in with the environment on the bottom of the ocean floor.
They love sandy bottoms and feed on crustaceans, worms and fish, but due to over fishing commercially these friendly non harmful creatures are being caught in nets and are discarded to die.

This is the 3rd one I have seen in the area over the last 10 years, so its nice to see one again.
I let this banjo shark go immediately after a quick photo and it swam off fine.
