OCEAN TURBON SNAIL

The eastcoast Turbon snail is a beautiful water snail that lives in the intertidal zone where the tide comes in and out.
It is exsposed to large waves, the heat of the sun and predotors trying to eat it.
They slowly move around on the rocks eating algae and when the tide goes out they seal up there shell with a trap door shell that you can see in the last photo and this prevents them from drying out.

They grow to a maximum size of a tennis ball and do not bite or hurt you if you touch them.
I love finding shells that have there inhabitants still living in them.
