Planting Fields Arbotrerum Visit Part 2!
The name "planting fields” comes from
The Matinecock Indians who settled in
Oyster Bay,Long Island, New York. Later William and Mai Cole, planted this area with Rare Species of tree and plant collections.
Planting Fields Arbotrerum includes "alphabet garden" near the front road, by the entrance. Flowers organized in alphabetical order. I wander around and back out to the main lawn where the mansion is. The smaller garden by the house- rose garden, small pond, fountain, very pretty.
Must see the greenhouses, very cool stuff in there. What is also nice, which many people do not do, are the trails in many directions. These hiking paths are really nice and you almost feel like you're not in the middle of suburbia.
