An overturned chair
An overturned chair, probably a remnant of post-war tenants. How I like to enter such inaccessible nooks and crannies...
- When we visit the Wisłoujście Fortress, we usually follow the road leading over the water bridge straight towards the walls and the solid gate of the fortress. The facility is currently under renovation and is closed to tourists until 2024. However, nothing is lost. It is worth going to the vicinity of the fortress because of:
- particularly beautiful sunsets seen from the drawbridge;
- fortifications located also outside the defensive walls on the Eastern rampart of the fortress;
- a bench on the pier facing a small yacht marina;
- surrounding nature: a small park and the herons, cormorants and bats that come here from time to time;
- Napoleonic barracks.
- Now a few words about the barracks. It is an inconspicuous, low, elongated building, most probably from 1806. In an article, I came across information that an Archaeological and Tourist Center is to be built soon within the walls of the former barracks. Currently, as long as the barracks have not been renovated, it is possible to enter them.
