A Father's Perspective on Child Safety

Sex crimes are one of the most serious crimes and specially if it involves a child. When someone has harmed a child, it raises a difficult question: should that person be allowed to have close contact with their own children after serving their prison sentence I would say that the safety of children must always come first. Even if the law may allow someone to return to society but if the victims family does not forgive them then there's nothing to do about it. They may have completed their punishment that does not mean they should have unrestricted access to children. So in my opinion, I don't think people with such crimes can be easily trusted and it is very difficult to rebuild the trust when a crime involves harming a child.

Moreover, I am a father of two young daughters, and for me the safety of my daughters comes first. In conclusion, I always have felt protective when there's an adult near them. To be honest, I don't trust anyone blindly even if it's my own brother. As we know that children depend on adults, and they are unable to recognize danger for themselves. That is why my wife has already taught our daughters about bad touch and good touch. Now, there's nothing to worry but I still don't wanna risk it. So, I never keep my guards down.

I started to become cautious since when I heard about a real incident which happened to one of my friend's daughter. She was only five years old when she experienced a situation that left her frightened. She's fifteen years old now but she is still emotionally affected and traumatized. When I watch my friend struggle to support and protect his child, it was a heartbreaking moment. I could not find any words to make him feel better. This incident made me realize me how badly children can be impacted by harmful experiences and it can last for years.

Another important fact is that as a parent everyone should keep an eye on their child if they feel uncomfortable around someone who has a history of harming minors, even if that person is a family a relative. Children's emotions should be prioritized, and no child should ever feel pressured to be with someone that makes them feel unsafe.

I often think about the choices parents must make to keep their children safe. I believe it is better to set firm boundaries if there is even a small chance that someone could bring harm to their child. Lastly safety should be the first priority it should never depend on assumptions.

So if a someone has done sex crime with others child and later wants to see his own child, then I think access to children should be limited and closely supervised. The rights of adults are important but they should never outweigh the safety and wellbeing of children.

Any decision involving a convicted sex offender and contact with children should be guided by one principle above all else protecting the child.
