Poco a poco, enfrentando mis miedos...

Hey friends from this beautiful community, I hope you're all doing great! Today I kept training because I want to build more skills on my skates.

First, I went to get breakfast—some delicious empanadas—and then headed straight to the track to train for a while and help my legs get used to the fatigue. I went to the Coliseo de Caldas.

There wasn’t much activity there today, so I took advantage of that. The sun was shining so bright—like we say in Venezuela: “that blondie was mad hot!” 😅 Anyway, the plan was to train and practice a few new things.

For about 30 minutes I skated around focusing on building up my strength.
After that, even though the sun got stronger, I kept going and started practicing how to brake with my skates. I’m learning two techniques that will help me feel more confident skating in the streets.

The first one is called the T stop: it involves placing your dominant foot straight in front, and the other one behind, turned sideways like a "T". It helps you slow down gradually. It’s not easy, but definitely doable. I’ve been learning for about three months now.

The second technique is called the soul slide or soul stop, and it’s especially useful for going downhill. You lower your center of gravity, extend one foot behind you, and use it to brake. It takes more practice and control over your body.

I feel like all this is helping me improve a lot. Today I even dared to go up and down a ramp at the beginning of the track. I was a bit scared of falling, but thank God nothing happened—and I did it!
Step by step, I’m facing my fears...
