Project Burner: Concept Art First Drafts Walking Maw
This is the first draft at one of the early stages in the life cycle of a Koth alien. At this point in development, the creature is little more than three legs and five teeth which shred whatever the creature can outrun. Hence the name 'Walking Maw'. The perspective on both the front and side view of the creature are both a bit off, but I think it is a good first draft. In the context of Project Burner, this is a very low level monster which is going to be used in early missions as trash mobs, although they might pose a bit of a threat in large numbers or if they prevent the player characters from moving by sinking their in their teeth, then not letting go. In my mind the Koth aliens all radiate off of the same juvenile form, and I think the walking maw is just above the egg or larval phase. This is sort of similar to how pluripotent cells can be differentiated into most other cell types, crossed with the concept of metamorphosis, where creatures go through a dramatic morphological change. I am planning on showing off more of the Koth creatures throughout the week.
