DocuTrack, an on-chain files sharing app powered by Internet Computer Blockchain has been released.

The Dfinity Foundation (Major contributor the the Internet Computer Blockchain) has released the alpha version of DocuTrack, an open-source decentralized file-sharing app, where you can Request, Share & Manage documents on-chain.

The app allows anyone with an Internet Identity (II) account to start sharing files with others in a fully encrypted format on-chain.

How does it work?
Through a web browser, a user with an internet connection uploads a file from his device and sets it as protected by a secret key. The user then sets a specific recipient that can access and decrypt the file’s secret key to access it.

Users can now move from centralized services like DocuSign or DropBox to DocuTrack to send and receive files more securely without being exposed to any centralized privacy concerns or providing any personal information such as email address, password, or location.

DocuTrack is protected by Internet Computer’s cryptography primitives. Your private key remains on your device, only encrypted data is stored in the backend. Standard browser cryptography libraries are used for key generation, encryption and decryption.

The app is hosted directly on the Internet Computer (IC) Blockchain. Project documentation is also available on GitHub.
