Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge! - Going The Distance

Once again, it's another week of the Weekly Battle Mage Challenge. The ruleset for this week is Going The Distance. In this ruleset, Only unit with range attack you can use in th the battle. In this ruleset, don't forget to include in the lineup those with return fire ability. Return fire sends ranged damage back to the enemy. You can also use a summoner with return fire. Currently, only two summoners have this ability: Lir Deepswimmer and Ilthain.

To avoid being countered by return fire, you can use a unit with a reflection shield. Currently, there are only three units with a reflection shield against ranged attackers. They are Ash Mirage, Ancient Redwood, and Runic Skyclaw.

My battle took place in a sps dao free tournament called the Poseidar Wild Silver Invitational I'm only in 92th place in this tournament and earn 23.8 sps. Come, let's see how I won in this ruleset.

BATTLE CONDITION

56 Mana cap the elements that you can use is water, earth and dragon. The ruleset are Corrosive Fog, Going The Distance and Explosive Weaponry.

TEAM COMPOSITION

For this battle, due to the "Going the Distance" ruleset, I chose Lir Deepswimmer as my summoner, who grants return fire and blind abilities to all units. I selected him to reflect damage back to the enemy with each attack aimed at my units. For the first position, I chose Wave Brood, a ranged attacker with taunt and close-range abilities. Since only ranged units can be used in the battle, Wave Brood is suitable for the frontline because of his close-range ability, allowing him to attack the 1st position. The taunt ability is also useful to draw attacks to the 1st position. For the 2nd position, I chose Poseidon, a ranged attacker with shield and blast abilities. Poseidon's shield ability helps reduce the damage from blasts. For the 3rd position, I chose Angelic Mandarin, a ranged attacker with triage ability to heal the damage received by Poseidon. For the 4th position, I selected Axe Master, a ranged attacker with double strike ability, enabling him to attack twice per round. For the 5th position, I chose Sea Stalker, a ranged attacker with snipe and camouflage abilities, allowing him to attack the enemy's backline. Lastly, I chose Swamp Spitter for the last position, a ranged attacker with repair ability to repair armor damaged by heavy attacks. Since Wave Brood in the 1st position has taunt, Swamp Spitter will prioritize repairing his armor first.

KEY NOTES

Because of the possibility of return damage, every attack from the enemy can potentially receive double damage since blast damage comes from range, it can also be returned to the attacker.

BATTLE SUMMARY

In round 1, the opponent's Venari Marksman died due to the blast.

In round 2, Coastal Nymph received triple damage, firstly due to its direct hit on Poseidon. Because of the blast effect that hit Wave Brood and Angelic Mandarin, they returned fire to Coastal Nymph. Because of this, Coastal Nymph died.

The battle ended in round 3 because of Axe Master's attack on Drybone Raider, which caused a blast and killed the opponent's Angelic Mandarin.

CONCLUSION

For me, my plan to use return fire to inflict double damage on the opponent was successful. Because of the direct hit and blast effect of each attack from the opponent, they could potentially receive double damage.
Placing Poseidon in the 2nd position after the monster with the taunt ability, Wave Brood, was also successful. Because of Poseidon's shield, he only received less damage from the opponent's blast.
