Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge! - Five Alive

Hello Family and Guild Mate

image.png

Once again, it's another week of the Weekly Battle Mage Challenge. The ruleset for this week is Five Alive. In this ruleset, you can only use up to 5 units in the battle. For me, the ruleset "fiveAlive" seems unchanged on its own; you'll only face a challenge when combined with other rulesets because it becomes more limited in terms of the units you can use in the battle. Like the battle I'm sharing, you're really limited in the units you can use because only neutral units are allowed in the battle, making it quite challenging for me. The battle I'm sharing is from the tournament I joined, sponsored by SPS Dao, called the Ferexian Modern Silver Invitational. My opponent here was Quintessentiala from the Goat Gang Guild. Let's check out how I won this battle, which included the "Five Alive" ruleset.

TEAM COMPOSITION

battle lineup.png

The summoner I chose for this battle is Quix The Devious, who gives -1 to ranged and speed to the opponent's units. That's why I picked Quix The Devious; my plan for this battle is to deploy a monster with taunt and dodge abilities, so I'll need abilities to speed up and slow down to increase the chance of dodging their attacks. For the 1st position, I chose Coeural Lurker, a melee attacker with taunt, dodge, and phase abilities. Coeural Lurker fits my plan perfectly because of its taunt, dodge, and phase abilities, so I'll just complement it with abilities to slow down and speed up to increase the chance of dodging the opponent's attacks. For the 2nd position, I chose Clockwork Aide, a no-attack monster with swiftness ability. Just like my plan, I need a monster with speed-enhancing abilities, so I included Clockwork Aide in my lineup because of its swiftness ability, which increases the speed of all units. For the 3rd position, I chose Moxian Rebel, a magic attacker with weapons training ability. Moxian Rebel's weapons training ability will provide the magic attack ability for Clockwork Aide. For the 4th position, I chose Supply Runner, a ranged attacker with swiftness ability. Supply Runner's swiftness ability will provide additional speed to all units. And for the last position, I chose Gobson Bomber, a ranged attacker with recharge and camouflage abilities. Because of Gobson Bomber's recharge ability, his damage will triple every other round.

KEY NOTES

image.png

Just as planned, because of Quix's -1 speed and Clockwork Aide's and Supply Runner's +1 speed, Coeural Lurker gained an advantage over the opponent, so there's a high chance of dodging the opponent's physical and magic attacks.

BATTLE SUMMARY

image.png

In rounds 1 and 2, because of Coeural Lurker's speed advantage, the opponent missed 11 times. Due to the dodge ability from summoner Astra, only my physical attacks missed, but my magic attackers did not miss.

image.png

In round 3, the opponent continued to miss, resulting in a total of 17 misses. In this round, the opponent's 1st position, Arkemis The Bear, also died from Clockwork Aide's magic attack.

image.png

In round 4, the attacks of Drybone Raider still missed, bringing the total misses by the opponent to 19. Additionally, in this round, the opponent's Junker died from Gobson Bomber's ranged attack.

image.png

From round 1 to 7, Coeural Lurker endured 23 missed attacks before being killed by Drybone Raider in round 7. The battle ended in round 8 after Gobson Bomber killed the opponent's Drybone Raider.

CONCLUSION

  • Overall, my plan succeeded in using monsters with taunt, dodge, and phase abilities, along with speed-enhancing and slowing abilities, to increase the chances of dodging the opponent's attacks.

  • The chance of the dodge and phase abilities being effective is greater if the unit has a speed advantage over its opponent.
