Another Saturday At The Farm

Hello, everyone.

I welcome you to my blog. The week was fun as it was a student's week, which makes it a lecture-free week and a stress-free week for every student until Friday night, when it was communicated to us that we would be visiting our farmland again after some time. Many of our coursemates tried to let the course rep know we were still enjoying the student week, but all to no avail.

I woke up Saturday morning all happy and thinking it was the weekend as usual until I remembered I had a farm to visit and, most of all, do some work, even though we hadn't been told of the task ahead of us. I jumped out of bed and immediately freshened up. My coursemates were already waiting for me because I woke up late and was rushing to meet up. I almost forgot my phone while going out.

We arrived at the venue at around 8:00 a.m, and we were addressed by the course rep. The task for the day was to loosen the soil using either a hoe or a shovel. Because the bed was done about two weeks ago, the soil is no longer loose and suitable for planting. My colleagues and I came with our shovels from home in order not to encounter any difficulties or delays in carrying out the task given.

College is really stressful. I gained admission to study agricultural engineering but did not imagine I'd actually visit the farm and carry out such hard work. The soil was really hard and caused many people to have blisters on their palms since it has not rained for about three days now. Lecturers will always devise a means to make sure students are stressed and busy.

After the loosening of the soil, we were asked to take measurements of our beds. The length should be a minimum of five meters and the width a minimum of two meters. Many people's beds were not up to that standard and were asked to go back and make sure they were up to the minimum length and width before they were graded. After all was done, we were graded and told to come back on Monday, hoping it rains so planting can commence.
