The Biggest Shift I Made This Year
I’m not even gonna lie, this year is moving faster than I ever imagined. It’s as though we started the year yesterday and today we are more than halfway through. I get that feeling like life is passing me by because where did time go?
I’m left asking myself what I did in the first half of the year and how much my life has changed. Honestly, now that I think about it I see that so much has happened in my life. I’ve grown in various ways and aspects in my live and I’ve as well put things in place to secure my future.
This year started as a though one as the previous year ended with a lot to deal with. I’ve learnt a lot this year as someone who has survived almost losing their life, juggling my daily activities, my relationships and life in general. It’s all been a lot but I’m taking it a day at a time. If there’s one thing I have had to unlearn in the first half of this year, it is going to be decentering people.
We as humans need people in our lives and no matter how much we deny it , it’s fact. But then again, not everyone deserves to be in our lives. For so long I’ve been trying to pull some people along with me in life and it just kept on holding me back and having a toll on me. Eventually, it all came tumbling down. I was trying to help and build bonds with people who didn’t like me in a bit. These people were my literal enemies in broad daylight and I had to let them go.
It’s been hard, but it had to be done. You don’t see fire and put your hand in it. I’m working on it, making new friends, and also appreciating the people that are genuinely in my space and have my back. Life isn’t that difficult, you just have to find your people and you’d be good to go.
