Dropped With Nothing, Rising With Everything

For as long as I remember, I’ve always found myself living in places I know or places where I know a few people. But never in my life have a thought of finding myself in a place where I know no one or have no means of living.

But today, I have the opportunity to harbor wild thoughts, think it through and find a way around it. So, ride along with me as we step into the land of the unknown. Let’s assume I wake up one bring morning and find myself in a strange land. Apparently, some magical force lifted me off my bed and sent me sailing all the way into this mysterious land filled with people I know not.

How to do survive? Thanks to the people skills I’ve had to learn the lard way, I know the first thing I must do when I find myself in a new environment or community is to introduce myself. So, I’d first make my way to the house of the elders or chiefs if there’s any. Meet with the leaders and introduce myself, where I’m from, what brought me here and how I landed here. I bet I’d be welcomed beautifully.

Next thing I’d do is to ask for a place to lay my head for a few days which I know I well get. Feeding for the next few days will probably come from good people around or minor jobs here and there which will earn me some money. The few days of free accommodation I get will be spent looking around the area to find out what I can help with in the community and how much that can earn me. I’m pretty sure I can come up with something the people in the community will buy. Be it an idea, a service or what have you. I know I have the skills and the know- how. All I need to the actual weak link to present to them.

I know I will find it and earning a living will be a thing of the past for me in a few days to a week. Then we come to being a part of the community. I will make sure to make it a point to spend time with people in the community during the evening on meetups, community activities and what have you. And how can I forget helping kids which is one of the best ways to build the bond with people in the community. Once the kids like you, everyone likes you because parents always want the send their kids away and I will be there to receive them and b that friend to them while their parents are busy at work. This way, i am able to earn my seat as a member of that community very fast.

These few things should give me a head start to earning my place in a community where i magically happen to find myself.
