Road Poetry - Forest Night
Forest Night
What is as dark as forest nights
below the leaves, between the trees
light stays away and moist air comes inside
Sounds of many kinds surround
like ghostly shapes my hammock
and keep their mysteries within
The Deer in supermarkets
wink at me with bills to pay
for i'm a stranger here
My ears keep changing shapes
while trains become a bore
melting away before my eyes
Trees seem posters on black walls
imagination draws wild forms
a speck of mind among the night
