For a few days now, my friend  @nanixxx and I had been planning a bike ride along the coast, something quiet: a bit of beach, disconnecting… the usual.

Desde hace algunos días mi amiga @nanixxx y yo veníamos planificando una salida en bicicleta por la costa, algo tranquilo: un poco de playa, desconectar… lo típico.

| Yesterday we finally decided to go, but you know how it is: plans change. We ended up going further than expected, all the way to El Salado beach. And the best part came after… unexpectedly, we ran into a karting and motocross competition. That wasn’t on the menu, but you can imagine the joy. | Ayer por fin nos decidimos, pero ya saben cómo es esto: los planes cambian. Terminamos yéndonos más lejos de lo previsto, hasta la playa El Salado. Y lo mejor vino después… sin esperarlo, nos encontramos con una competencia de karting y motocross. Eso no estaba en el menú, pero imagínense la alegría. |
| There’s a track at that beach for these types of events. It’s over 30 years old, because I remember going there with my dad as a kid to watch races… and I’m almost 44 now. | En esa playa hay una pista para este tipo de eventos. Tiene más de 30 años, porque recuerdo que de niño iba con mi papá a ver competencias allí… y ya casi tengo 44. |

| I was very surprised to see kids competing. I suppose it’s an adapted category, but even so, the level was tremendous. And the excitement of the parents… it was like something out of a movie. | Me sorprendió mucho ver niños compitiendo. Supongo que es una categoría adaptada, pero aun así, tremendo nivel. Y la emoción de los padres… de película. |
| Of course, being there, it was impossible not to try some panning shots. It would have been almost sacrilegious not to. That said, it was more complicated than what I’m used to on the Malecón with classic cars… the speed was different here. But hey, the challenge was great. | Claro, estando allí era imposible no intentar algún barrido fotográfico. Casi un sacrilegio no hacerlo. Eso sí, más complicado de lo que estoy acostumbrado en el Malecón con los autos clásicos… aquí la velocidad era otra cosa. Pero bueno, el reto estuvo buenísimo. |

Afterward, we went to the beach and wrapped up the excursion the way it should be. I hope many more outings like this come along. And I almost forgot: the whole trip was by bike. @nanixxx even did more kilometers because she started from Havana.

Después nos fuimos para la playa y cerramos la excursión como se debe. Ojalá vengan muchas más salidas así. Y casi se me olvida: todo fue en bicicleta. @nanixxx incluso hizo más kilómetros porque salió desde La Habana.
