Exploring Lisbon

Back in January 2018, we had the opportunity to go to Lisbon in Portugal!
Below, I'll be highlighting the most amazing things I got to see in this gorgeous old city...

**1. Belém and the Discoveries Monument **
Belém is a very chilled out area on the Tagus River, and even though it was a little cold, this is one of the must see places in Lisbon.
The intricate details on the Discoveries Monument (Padrão dos Descobrimentos) are outstanding, making for some splendid close up shots! The 52ft tall monument was designed to commemorate the Age of Discoveries in Portugal on the 500th anniversary of the death of Henry the Navigator (who discovered the Azores, Madeira and Cape Verde)

**2. Praça Luís de Camões **
Named after Portugal’s most famous poet, this square is an ideal location for shopping, wining & dining, and sight-seeing. As we went a few days after christmas, the festive decor was still lighting up the square at night

**3. Misericórdia **

Known as Lisbon's downtown area, we spent a majority of our time exploring this beautiful neighbourhood.
The narrow, quaint roads of Lisbon are something that you will likely not have seen in any other major city. The famous yellow trams are a tourist attraction by itself, and i spent a few too many hours trying to capture decent photos of them.
