False daisy (Eclipta prostrata), also known as Bhringraj in Ayurveda, is a flowering plant in the sunflower family (Asteraceae). It is widely recognized for its medicinal properties and is native to tropical and subtropical regions around the world. A small, branched, annual herb with opposite leaves and small white flowers. Typically grows up to 50 cm (20 inches) tall. Lance-shaped with a slightly hairy texture. Small, white, and daisy-like. Commonly used in Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Siddha practices. Known as a remedy for hair problems, including promoting hair growth and preventing hair loss. Used for liver health, skin conditions, and as an anti-inflammatory. Oil extracted from False Daisy is used in hair treatments for strengthening roots and maintaining natural color. Contains bioactive compounds like wedelolactone, which have antioxidant, antimicrobial, and hepatoprotective properties. Often infused in coconut or sesame oil for hair and scalp care.Taken orally for liver health or as a general tonic. Used in skincare products or herbal remedies.
