Last deep space image for January 2024

When the sky is clear at night it is time to get the imaging telescope out, i decided to focus on one target last night, i can add more data to this image in the future and it stands at 160 mins of data ATM.

The target last night is the rosette nebula, not visible to the naked eye but multiple long exposures allow to piece an image together.

The target of the rosette nebula is made up of a few different NGC numbers, my favourite being the core NGC2244, a rather busy open cluster of stars in the centre. The rosette nebula is fairly close in galactic terms around 5000 light years away, and just a blip in the age of the universe at around a few million years old with the nebula expected to be gone in just a few more.

I did a major upgrade to my imaging rig, it is now on a steel pier and sporting a few hive stickers. I hope you liked my image and any suggestions for targets in the future please let me know in the comments.
